Default Lincoln Powermig wire feed problem

I searched, but couldn't find any threads on the Powermig. My problem is getting the wire to feed properly. When the trigger is squeezed, the wire feeds VERY slowly, for about 2-3sec. Then it starts feeding at the IPM that it is set for. I've checked the drage on the spool, there is no binding in the liner or contact tip. It seems to be in drive motor itself. Even with no wire, the rollers start slow and then pickup speed. Once you are up to speed, it seems to weld fine, but you can see this can cause problems getting started. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I know nothing of you machine but there should be some electronic of some type that controls the wire feed motor. I would look there.

Lincoln made some welder that had a slow startup built in them. If I rember correct if the wire makes a circut sooner it will step up to the set speed. I never got used to it and went back to my old Miller matic 35. Good luck, Jan

The run in speed is adjustable. I'll have to see what it says on mine tomorrow. I will post the procedure to change it. Kevin

Turn the machine off. Press and hold the trigger on the gun. Rotate the wire speed dial fully clockwise. Turn the power on, display should read FAST. To change from fast to SLOW, repeat the procedure but turn the dial fully counterclockwise. HTH, Kevin

Many thanks to everyone. It was the Run In. Thanks AZ. I managed to find an owners manual and after some reading(duh) and a little fiddling around I got it working great. Sometimes all ya need is to be pointed in the right direction. Thanks again.
