Close inspection of a mag on an LB I'm trying to get running revealed a hairline crack in one of the magnets length wise. I'm assuming this is nothing to ignore. Is it common?

Is it loose on shaft? Bearings gone out now or before letting it drag? Why did it crack ? Someone got wild clamping it in a vise too tight? It's not going to fire with the magnet dragging and bad bearings.

Its in good shape otherwise, but the mag cap was broke and a lot of crap got in between the rotor and coil possibly cracking when someone cranked it over
. I cleaned it out got a new cap and cleaned the points and it fires beautifully. I was afraid that centrifugal force might make it come apart. I'll have to make sure its not loose on the shaft. I think I'd feel better with another rotor though, if I can find one. Thanks

Just make sure the magnetic rotor edges and inside laminations are smooth and free of any burrs. If it isn't loose I wouldn't worry about it but suppose you could fill the crack some with some JB weld and sand it smooth. That might help any metal on it from flaking out later on.
