Let's go to the Big Box and buy the lowest price junk there is...

Actually, buying the American made stuff, while it may be a few cents more, adds value to our own currency, because the money stays here, rather than tipping the balance of trade against us, and devaluing our currency.

As I'm in the process of relocating to Louisiana, this has been a story of interest. It seems the homeowners really did not have much of a choice regarding the drywall due to the shortages after Katrina. I heard of one contractor that is replacing any drywall he did at no charge. Unfortunately this product was allowed to enter the US. It is really a bigger issue than you may think. People are litterally having to rebuild their homes in some cases.

There is suposed to be a town meeting somewhere around Baton Rouge this weekend to discuss an alternative remediation process but I have not heard the details.

I know if I buy an existing home, my inspection will be on steroids as well as in-depth documentation of any previous work done to the property.

Anyone interested in a lovely home in northeast Ohio, acerage, deer, turkey, private, with a knockout shop / engine barn?

Mike

Whew... just checked with the guy that did my new house... his answer was he didn't speak Chinese... he bought American. I figured he did since we have 2 local manufacturers. Lucky me...

Craig,
Hope this doesn't get a "tin foil hat" thought but......

All the Chinese really care about is our money. They could care less about our health and well being. ( perfect example --- lead in children's toys )

The "junk" in the drywall is a perfect way for them to get toxic material out of their country and we actual PAY to accept it here.

Nice trading partner.
