Default Edwards webster magneto question

Can anyone tell me the purpose of the screw-on cap on the top, non-drive end of the Webster SE rotary low tension magneto? What is under that cap? Nothing or something? Thanks!

Kid,
You must have gotten the mag recently sold on Ebay? I've had mine apart but don't recall what it was for. I've attached some photos & notes on brush holder dimensions, etc. I measured for someone. Luckily mine was in pretty good shape & hot. Do you have the gear?
