Well guys ,I got the "A" I talked about a while back ,it has wheel weights on all wheels the left tire is loaded the right one won't be . I'm only planning on pushing a little snow ,do the really need all that weight? Should I have the other tire loaded ar drain the one with it ? Will it matter if one is and the other isn't? Bud

The REAL question is: How soon do you want to buy new rims?
If (WHEN) a tube starts leaking you can pretty much kiss the rim goodbye.......unless you are the one in 10,000,000 who would have it repaired in time....... ![]() Weight is good unless you are on ice in which case all the weight in the world won't matter unless you have chains. I'd be on the lookout for wheel weights.

i would imagine you are going to find the unloaded tire slipping a lot. I can only suspect the last owner was cutting hay with it, and needed the weight on the left side, the right side already being weighed down with a sickle bar.

The left tire only has it because it didn't blow when I put air to it , I really didn't think I'd need all that weght anyway .Oh and I got a set of chains with it .But I'll definately get rid of the calcium in the other tire . How much do the wheel weights actually weigh?

Chloride in the tires does no harm. People who do not repair their tires and/or just don't care are the reason for ruined rims.
We have tractors from the 60's and 70's that had chloride installed when new. Recently changed tires on them and had a chance to look inside - the rims are all LIKE NEW. When we notice a wet spot on a rim, we repair. And not just repair - have them pumped out, dismounted so we can properly clean the rims, and usually a new tube installed. Fluid in the tires is the BEST source of ballast there is. The weight is right on the ground where it is needed, and it lowers your center of gravity, making the tractor safer to operate. If you are concerned about corrosion, there are several products on the market that are non-corrosive such as beet juice and rimguard. |
