Remove the flywheel clean the points. Possibly replace condenser. Do not take the points out. By moving them it will mess up the timing. To adjust them use a little wrench and adjust the moveable point. About
.020 is fine. To remove flywheel loosen the big nut and back it off so it is flush with the end crank shaft. Then put a large screw drive between flywheel and the engine and pry gently while hitting the end of the crankshaft with fairly hard. A brass hammer is best so you don't mess up the threads.

Most of the Maytags I have worked on have weak spark. After doing Arlie's procedure if the spark is still a little weak you might try setting the spark plug gap smaller. First .025, then .020, even .018 can make a weak mag run a Maytag.

Try a new condenser too. One for a model A Ford works.
