Default Hello from Central New York

I am a 41 year old tinkerer that found this site while reseaching my Dragonfly Airdrive Outboard. Looks to be a pretty interesting place. I've got alot of reading to do, so if you don't see me posting much, that doesn't mean that I'm not around, just occupied. Thanks for having me.

It is basically a small version of the larger air boats found in Florida. It is portable, approx. 6 HP, weighs 73 lbs. It has a 3 foot prop. Mounts on back of a boat like any small outboard engine, and steers the same as one also. Works best on a 12 foot V- bottom rowboat. I have tried it on a flat bottom jon boat but it doesn't steer very well. I also have a 35 HP Wankel rotary engine that I plan to make a 3 bladed prop for, and mount to a bigger boat. I made a prop out of red oak for the Dragonfly, as the original took a whack when the wind blew me into a dock. For the 3 blade, I plan to make a fiberglass laminate. The Dragonfly is not very fast, but very fun and good in shallow, weed infested water. Turns on a dime. It always gets a double take when people see it. And oh yeah, you're not gonna sneak up on anyone.

I thought I had old stuff, this is simply mind blowing and intrigueing at the same time. I should probably find the right slot to put in my questions about a Wankel. I will look in the archives. This place has tons of info, Thank You good folks!
