It has a look of a Waterman about 1913.It has no valves & the sleeve rotates (Geared to the crank)to open & close the ports.

Photo Re: Unknown Rotary Valve Engine

It does not look like my Waterman (?). I beleive mine is a Waterman but it has no name plate. It is a 4 cycle and does have a slotted sleeve that rotates around the cylinder. In the picture, you can see the drive for the rotating sleeve at the bottom right of the cylinder. It appears to be a marine engine. It has a magneto and a oil pump. It is missing top of carburator. Anyone have a engine like this?

Thanks for the replies. I found a 1917 Waterman add showing their engine. It looks pretty close to my friends. (the add shows the opposite side of the engine)
