Greetings!
I just picked up an old Lister-Blackstone, CD single cyl diesel. It is serial no 3243 and said by the owner to be mfg in 1937. Its is in running condition but I;m sure it needs some TLC. Any idea how to get the proper paint color? I checked Wendel but its a British engine. Also I'd appreciate any pointers to active Lister collectors. Thanks Dave |

Me Too!! I have a 2 cyl Lister Blackstone type 18/2 #251, 21hp, 1200rpm, havn't been able to find any info on it. Found a place in Autralia with some Blackstone manuals but no mention of Lister Blackstone. Mine's a pile of rust, missing some major parts but looks kind a nice in the front yard.... Please let me know if you have made any great discoveries re info. Thanks, Mike

I live in the UK only a few hundred miles from site in the link above and I'd never heard of it untill David Hagan in New Zealand sent me the link a couple of days ago in an Email response to a post I put on smokstak.
It is a mine of information and well worth a look. I'm only posting this response to once again thank David and anyone else who has helped me or anyone else via Harry's amazing pages. Simon |

I have been in touch with Peter. He is very knowledgable and helpful.
It turns out my engine was manufactured in Milwaulkee, WI under license. Unfortunately, when I unloaded it today, I found I could not turn it over. Pulled the head and found rust - the result of a home-built muffler with holes on top. I got the piston unstuck, but the cylinder looks iffy. Oddly - the head gasket appeared to be some fiberous material; I can't imagine that holding diesel compression. I was thinking of trying some soft copper flashing for gasket material. Any thoughts? |
