Default Gravely L-8 Help in changing oil!

I just purchased an old L-8 Gravely tractor with from tiller attachment. Can someone tell me where to change the oil? I've searched but can't locate and don't have a user's manual. Thanks.

Artie:

The oil drain plug is located at the bottom of the differential. In the "T" head Gravely tractors, the engine, tranny and bands were bathed in the same oil.

There's also a strainer on the oil inlet line inside the diff housing.

After changing the oil, it's good to make sure that the oil pump hasn't lost prime. If your Gravely doesn't hava an oil pressure gauge (most don't), you can check to see if it has pressure by taking off the oil fill cap and looking for a stream of oil coming out of the brass piece a couple of inches below the top of the filler neck.

Caution, you could get a face-full of oil spray if you open the cap while the engine is running at speed.

Take care - Elden

I think its the bottom bolt of the right axle housing.

If you're lucky, the tag may still be on the bolt. It is the very bottom bolt though.
