Default Ford buzz coils

Thanks to the many threads on here i have tackeled repairing my Ford coils. The one thing I am not sure of is checking the AMP draw. I found on this site to set amps at .85 to .95 amps. Is this using 6 or 12 volts? I know on AC current, as the voltage increases the current is less. Dose the same apply for DC volts. Thanks !! Tim

Tim:

With a buzz coil, the current is always higher as the battery voltage increases - BUT - it doesn't increase in direct proportion due to the interruptor.

You need a DC Ammeter to measure the primary current.

I Generally set mine on 12 Volts... I find that 6 or 12 don't really make that Much difference in current draw... Like Eldon said I believe it's due to the action of the interupter points.

Actually in the car when running on Magneto they ran on up to 35 or so volts of AC at High speed not 6 volts DC like many people think...

Good evening,
I'm looking for contacts of my Buzz Coil (Ford type) the nuts.
What type of thread have? They are 10-32 UNF?
I am Italian, so I'm types of threads a little strange for me.

Colo-

The nuts are 12-32 NEF (national extra fine). The only way I could reasonably get them was to take 10-32 brass nuts and re-tap them to 12-32. You can pick up the tap from the big supply houses. The tap I used was made in Poland if I am not mistaken. First time I tried to repair these coils I bought 2 boxes of 12-28 nuts and found out they were not a good fit!
