Default Onan 5kW Re: When was my ONAN built?

Got into the 5KW over the weekend. In the process of putting in new battery cables and replacing the 110V outlets with new ones. Engine looks solid and nice compression. Need to find the right color to repaint this, it needs it!

If you unit has local Outlets, it will be a Contractors version of the CCK, which has a different Wiring Diagram and Safety Shutdown Systems, from the Stationary or Motorhome versions. Maybe one of the Resident SmartGuys, that has access to the Onan Build List will take your serial Number and come back with your exact Model and Spec Code.

If it's manual start, I hope you have a strong back! The CCK I have was originally a contractor version and I had virtually given up on it, but I found a MCCK locally with a bad engine that I bought for $100. Disassambled both, scrapped the MCCK engine, married the MCCK genend to the CCK engine (everything fit perfectly), and - - Viola! - an electric start Onan! When it was manual-start, I had to flash the field occasionally to make it gen - you may have to as well.

It's electric start, with large wheel barrow type wheels and a 1" axle so its pretty easy to move. I ordered paint so painting is next. It now has new battery cables, new outlets, engines turns over nicely. Only issue is the vertical risers on the cage are battered, but that's minor.

It has not run a a couple years according to the guy I bought it from, it had a frayed ground cable/bad contact on the chassis connection of the negative side of the battery. New cables, a float bowl flush, and it started up and ran very smoothly, held voltage nicely under load. This weekend is the paint job and also bought new trailer wheels. I'll post some before and after pictures when I am done. Cannot find decals for the white labeling, so will be making mine own.
