Default 3hp Ohio pushrod

Video of the engine I brought home from the Heidl sale on 6/26/10. Dick had it bored and sleeved when he bought it 20 years ago, so now it just needs to run and be fine tuned. Hopefully it will be dialed in and running smooth at the Greenville, OH show 7/8-7/11!!

It sounds good Mike & it went to a good home. Dick loved to keep files on everything. (before & after, dates & where he got engines from)

The before picture is neat. It looks better now than what he started with! The tag that was tied to the pushrod had the date he got it from Bill and the date for the bore and sleeve job.

How is the crankshaft lubricated?

The cast "wells" on top of the main bearings are filled cotton string and oil. The string is to control the flow of oil into the bearing. It can get a little messy as the oil tends to run down the crank throw and get flung off. It requires a little more attention than a grease cup, but is very effective at keeping the crank oiled. The string also acts as a crude filter to keep contaminants in the oil out of the bearing.
