Default Gauge restoration man?

A couple years ago there was a man and his wife at the Pawnee engine show that was restoring steam and other types of gauges and had some for sale. Would anyone happen to know who it was as i am looking for a special gauge?

Can't think of his name right now but he was a retired jeweler. I had him restore a couple of steam gauges. Real nice guy who did nice work. I understand he passed away a couple of years ago.

Don't know if he does them for others, but as they say he wrote the book on the subject!

It is a great book by the way. Full of photo's and information.
Astragal Press has been sold to another company it may take you ot another name on the web site.

They are even better than before know as it is one that has books in the areas of interest to most on this forum.

Other good ones are:
American steam engine builders
The engine's moan (whistles)
Modern steam engines

They have books on tools, RR, farm equipment, building wood working, carriage and wagon building more great ones.

Mace Archer has passed away, but he sold a lot of his gauge restoring "stuff" to another fellow in KS-and his name escapes me right now. He sets up every year at Pawnee, and still works on gauges.

Hi My Name is Ted Housos. Sherry (wife) and I were at Pawnee a couple of years past. We sat up a display of our steam gauges and a display of our reproduction gauge faces. Mace Archer was kind enough to teach Sherry and I to work on gauges. We are still learning years later. I would be happy to help with your gauge woes if you are not in to big a hurry. Let me know what you need. I live at Bennington Kansas email address [ thousos@eaglecom.net ] Thanks all Ted & Sherry

Hi Ted, are you still rebuilding gauges? I might have 1 I need to send to you. The gauge face is in decent condition, but the mechanism sticks and I don't trust the reading. It may just need a cleaning and recalibration, but I might be interested in having it fully restored.
