Default OTCU 400 Transfer switch

hey guys,

I got a good question for you, I got this customer that wants to wired in a relay that fires when the generator is running. So it can fire an alarm. The generator does have a remote panel with a generator run light on the panel. I was wondering what would be the best route to wire in the relay? I should say the proper way to wire in the relay, or is there a place already in the transfer switch that I can use?

Thanks
Mark

By "running" do you mean "making power", or do you mean the "engine is operating"?

If you want generator running it will come off of the genset. For generator supplying power it will come from the transfer switch.

Generator running means its making power. (We hope)

Relay that picks up (is powered by generator output) would be how I'd do it in the ATS.

In thinking about it, there are at least 4 ways to do this.

OTCU has a set of aux contacts that indicate position of the switch.
