Hello Harry,
Welcome!
How big is your Maytag? I am anxious to hear the advice people give you on how to start yours because I'm new at it too, and I have an uncooperative 10 HP Fairbanks Morse Z that I'd like advice on starting. I figure it has 350 cubic inch displacement and my mother told me to eat my vegetables, but none of them stuck; I can hardly get the thing to go over compression, let alone wind it up like the 3HP international my neighbor has.
Cheers!
Martin

Welcome Harry. If you have trouble with your engine, I know a guy who can probably help you in McAlisterville. Private email me. I can give you his phone #.

A little off topic, but I think is was Millersburg where I took my car across the river on a rather unique ferry. If you like to ride ferries, take this one if your in the area.

Martin that big 10 hp you should probably throw it backwards to start. Leave crank in shed for wall ornament.
