I have an old(pre 1950 I assume) portable log saw.
Its about 8 ft long 2.5 ft wide and lies(built in) on an "A" metal frame /skid. Its a single reciprocating blade run by a small engine . Ill take a pic asap, but where woul be the correct part of the forum to post it. Chain saw seemed to be the closest. Mabe it belongs in two catagories, this and ? |

What you have there is a Timber Wolf Drag Saw built in Portland, Oregon in probably the late 1930's.
The 5000 is the steel frame model, and the 5001 is the wood frame model, it is a two-stroke engine that produces 4 h.p. The Timber Wold saw is my favorite one to saw with, let me know if there is any further information you need on it. Have fun with it!

Thanks Chris ! How is it you came by this info? Did you google or what? Other than for me to google it and I will,do you know of any other forums or groups that I can join that specializes in old blade saws? ---------- Post added at 10:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:41 PM ---------- Woops,I when typing my response I had forgotten you stated "The Timber Wold saw is my favorite one to saw with" So that means you have personal knowledge/experience with it/them. Im missing the blade. Someone swiped it one day. Know where I can get another? |

Sometimes the blades come up on e-bay from time to time, look for one local since shipping can add up, but just keep your eye out at sales and what not.
I dont know if there are any stationary engine shows or swap meets, but these do come up at those as well. As far as info, I have been working on researching drag saws for over 5 years or so now, boy does time fly. Good Luck with your saw!
