Default Ideal Hit n Miss engine

Does anyone have any information on this engine, I have gotten it to run but very poorley. Need help on geting fuel pump to work, I am doing pumping by hand. Thanks for any help.

what kind of ideal, hopper cooled, veritcal, horizontal, air cooled? the fuel pump will more than likely have check balls in it. what are their condition, sounds like they are not returning to their seats properly letting the gas come back from the carb and not holding it up there. hope this helps some

I have taken a couple of these fuel pumps apart that someone lost one of the check balls. There are two balls, one smaller that goes in first, then one a bit larger that goes into the same hole. I have had an engine running for a while with only one check ball, but it quit after a short time.
