Lots of folks on the Maytag forum in the small engine group are very knowledgable on maytags. Ask your question there and I'm sure you'll get some responses.

I see that you are a new member of the SmokStak community. Welcome!

There's a lot of useful information on this site, and a lot of accumulated knowledge about old engines and associated technology that is difficult (if not impossible) to find elsewhere. Sometimes the biggest problem is knowing where to start.

Craig D. pointed you in the right direction above; go to the SmokStak Maytag forum and start by looking through the threads you find there. To get there from the SmokStak home page, first click on "Small Air Cooled Gasoline Engines," then click on "Maytag Small Engine Collectibles." Look through the threads you find there, and also use the "search here" feature to check the older threads; there's a fairly good chance that someone may have asked your question already. If not, start a thread and ask away -- somebody's bound to know the answer!

Be sure to take plenty of pictures of your project as it progresses; later, when you look at the finished product, you'll be glad you did.

Good luck!
