Hi. I have a newly acquired 1 1/2hp Worthington hit & miss without a muffler. Would someone please advise me as to the muffler shape (flat, ball, etc.)as well as the diameter. Also what is the exaust pipe length between the cylinder head and the muffler? My thanks to all.

The muffler is 5 1/2 inches in diameter and is approximately 1/2 inch from the head. It has what I believe to be AA4 cast into the front side of the muffler. There are 3 small bolts that hold the two haves together. The shape is between a ball and being flat. It is about the shape of 1/4 of a ball with a 1/2 inch flange around the outside and the two halves bolted together.

Elrey Grambart reproduces several different original styles of mufflers for hit-n-miss engines. He advertises in the back of GEM. You can contact him at 763-498-7123 (evenings)

My engine has about 1/4 of the muffler left--not enough to patch up for a pattern. I can get the castings made, if I can find an original good enough to use for a pattern. I have tried the gentleman in Wi. on another muffler and don't get an answer or reply to my message.
