SDP - good question. I sent an email to the editor of the paper, referencing the link you provided, asking for an update. Maybe we can find some good news. I'll keep you posted, via this topic.

I would donate everything I own related to Rumely, including a tractor. But only on one term, " after I'm gone".....

Well thanks! Heading that way next week. I guess I'd be too early to see anything at the fairgrounds?

Hey Steve, I forgot to mention that the Maumee Valley club is having their show over at Fort Wayne at the Coliseum Friday through Sunday, April 1-3. They are featuring Rumely and Allis Chalmers.

SDP,
There is a public museum in LaPorte. It is downtown and may be in a public building, I forget? I remember it being in the basement of a larger building.
They have a bit of Rumely stuff - literature and pictures. But they also have a very nice gun collection plus the usual things you see at small town museums. Likely worth a visit if you are in town.
There is also the Rumely Hotel, if it is still open? Nothing like the ol' American House in your home town but...... Not sure if there is anything left of the old plant? And you can do some diving and find those old tractors in the lake? There is also the Hesston show grounds a few miled north.
Aloha,
G.

By the way, is there anything left at the Schaaf Museum?

This is now in a nice newer museum building on State Rd. 35 south of town. Has a heck of a car collection donated by a doctor who also payed for a major portion of that building if I have the story correct. They don't seem to have much interest in Rumely or Allis Chalmers, IMO.

Thought I would update this. We should have our lease finalized with the county by the end of this year (gotta love lawyers). We our tentatively planning on a 80' wide, 180' long steel framed structure. One end would house a 45' x 80' space for a conference room, restrooms and office. This is a large project and we need financial support to make this project a success. If you feel you can help, you can find information on our website: http://www.rumelyallis.com Thanks.

Looks like the museum in Laporte is moving along. Congratulations to all involved and thanks for the hard work to preserve history.

A museum devoted to (arguably) two of the greatest-ever tractor marques sounds like a wonderful idea! I will certainly try to visit it when we next come to the 'States
