Question How much is my engine worth?

Okay, I have a total of 4 ''toys'' around now and my dad is being a jerk and making me sell 1 of them. I am considering selling my go kart with a 1950's Briggs & Stratton Model 14, 6hp. What is that engine worth by its self in running condition?

As with most classic Briggs engines, it's worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. Your chances of getting the most out of it would be to list it on e-Bay..Why do you have to sell one of your toys ?

If you stay involved with engines long enough your dad will get used to it. At first my dad kinda didnt like me taking up space in the garage with a few old lawnmowers and such. But now he is ok with it and understands even though I have the garage and two sheds full now haha.

If you really want to keep this make sure you know why your Dad wants you to sell something. Your Dad probably has a good reason for you to sell something and maybe you do or don't know and understand what that reason is.
If you really want to keep it may be you can compromise with him.
Maybe store it somewhere else with a friend? Just some thoughts for you to use or ignore as you see fit.
As to price, do an Ebay and craigs list search for comparable items and see what comes up.

Hope ya work it out with your dad,i would clean an area for them to sit in,out of the way,Lay down a slab of cardboard to catch any leak's and everything would look tidy.A clean organised work area goes a long way to keep everyone happy.

How much space is your dad wiling to allow for you to use? If you can afford to buy or build a sturdy shelving unit to keep your engines on, they would be stored neatly and in a designated space.
You are NOT going to get on his good side by getting mad & calling him a jerk. Negotiate a compromise and everybody should come away happy.

Exclamation Re: How much is my engine worth?

My dad figures that I have too many things to ride around on and it looks ''ridiculous''. But after a lot of negotiating last night, he said that if I finished puting brakes and a floor on my go-kart (the one with this motor), he would let me rebuild the frame I was just given, and then he would maybe consider letting me keep all my ''toys''. I have to thank my mom thoughm usually she is pissed off when I am driving around on my karts/mini-bikes, but I think she is helping me out because she wants me out of the house lol. So I won't be selling it now, or atleast yet.

You may want to point out to him, very diplomatically I should add, all the worse things you could be doing.

I would love to have my Dad around to ride heard on me. Please, please, please try to patch things up and understand he is the only Dad you will ever have. Motors come and motors go but you only have one Dad!
