I came across a 1 1/2 hp sandwich engine that is in need of some parts to be able to restore it, nothing new there I guess. Anyway, in searching for parts at some of the usual places, Hit & Miss, Starbolt, and the internet in general, I haven't been able to find much. Would an engine like this that needs parts which may or may not be available be worth acquiring? I already have several projects in the works and my wife is suggesting I get rid of some rather than acquire more. I know that we all face some of that.
So what do you think?

cdr,
It all depends which parts you are missing .... piston, rod, head, flywheel, etc would be fairly difficult to find. Valves, piston rings, mag & trip parts would be much easier.

What parts does it need. We have members of the Sandwich engine club that have some parts and have also recast some parts. If it needs too much maybe it has something on it someone else needs for an engine they are working on.

Thank you for responding, I was hoping that someone from the Sandwich club might see this posting so your response is especially appreciated. I do not know what else may be missing or damaged on the engine as all I have seen are pictures; but it is apparent that the rocker arm and rocker assembly are absent. From what i can tell everything else seems to be there.

Replacing a wife is one thing, the cost to do so is another matter!!!! I'm very fortunate that my girlfriend of 15+ years likes old rusty things and was up in arms when the town requested that I clean up the joint. My former wife however, she would probably have called the town.

I fear that if I tried to replace the wife I would probably never be able to afford anything at all for a very long time. Besides, I kind of enjoy having her around.
