Do you have any oldtime hardware stores in your area . You know the real hardware stores . They had alot of sizes hanging on the walls . Don't you miss the real hardware stores ?

I'd try WW Grainger, McMaster-Carr, or stop at your regional electric motor repair facility, might be pricey. Could also put in an ad in this venue. We use to use these large pulley's, most were for large shafts and had several belts to go on the same pulley. You'll probably have to bush it down as larger belt sizes are for higher HP transmission.

I have some old sheet metal pullies ~14 and 20 inches in diameter that were used to drive the reel on a combine. They use a wide belt. The 20 incher has a 1+ inch ID bolt on hub the other has no hub. You can have them if you want them. I plan to attend the Portland swap meet. If you are interested let me know and I will get some accurate measurements for you.

If you can find some one who services commercial HVAC units, they might be able to snag you one off a discarded blower. I see them at the scrap yard fairly often on the medium-sized units 9bigger than a house but not a lot). Good luck.

I don't know the shaft size you need but try an appliance store. The pulleys on old cloth dryers are fairly large and easy to remove.

Weldapulleys should be available at most farm equipment stores.
Buy a pulley, a weld-on hub and you're good to go (weld with a lkow hydrogen rod such as 7018).

http://www.ggmfg.com/products.aspx?c...y=Weldapulleys

While they are rated as only fractional horsepower they will stand a lot more than you think.......

I just reread the first post.......those pulleys wouldn't handle a grinder.....a sheller yes......but not a grinder......
