From what I've seen in the pictures, it seems like his asking price is a little stiff...but I could be wrong. Hopefully they'll find a good home.

Hi from what I have seen his price is not all that high. If you want to see high prices go to the Stanley steam auc. for sky high prices. bob

the price may not be high but there are a lot of parts missing. I pick up a mason like the one on the left for $250.00 it was a basket case, but all the parts were there.

Yes GaarScott they did go to a good home. Hello jjtjr, what's the chance of getting some dimensions off your complete Mason engine to try and fix the one above?

I will need some info from your engine. I will help me to id your engine. The engine is running in my 1901 locomobile now. Mason made quite a few engines. My serial # is 283. It has a cast brass lower end,(early engine) some later engines were cast iron. My friend also has a mason, later one, which is on his work bench and I could get the measurements. A photo with close up shots would be great help., what I'm looking for is the type of cross head guides that you have. Also bore and stroke. This will tell me what engine to use for the measurements. Mine or my friends.Take a look at attached photos...

Your engine and your car are quite nice looking. You certainly must have a lot of time in them. My engine is a couple hundred numbers newer than yours. The old owner told me he got the engines from Frank Cooke. My engine looks pretty nice but at some time the upper half and the lower half got separated. If anyone knows of an unknown lower half of a steam engine from that auction, please let me know. jjtjr, any help on any dimensions is greatly appreciated. Thank you again.

Yep, From what I can see in the photos it looks like the one that I own. Next time I work on it I will start taking some measurements. I will be making some new d valves soon.

The engine will be removed from the car this winter and will be replaced with a later more powerful locomobile engine 20 hp. At that time I can send you some measurements. Let me know what you need.

Here is the drawing for the water pump for the mason or loco engine. The pump has the larger plunger as in the later engines, the body is the early design. This was done for ease of machining. The early pump used in the mason had a 1/2" dia plunger that was later changed to 9/16" then finally to 5/8". You will need check valves on input and output.
