Default Maytag Lawnmower

I have a chance to buy a Maytag lawn mower. Can anyone tell me about these mowers. It is complete, but the motor is apart. Are these mowers quiet scarce and how much are they worth.

Default Re: Maytag Lawnmower

The Moto Mower Company of Detroit, founded by Edwin George in 1919,buikt the first powered mower sold to the public,The mower was equipped witha 1 hp upright Maytag,500 of these mowers where sold during first year. In 1920 Maytag Sold 600 Multi Motors to Poniac Mower Comapny for use on there mowers. around 1940 the Goodall Manufacturing Company of Warrensburg,Missouri adapted the Maytag twin for use on its mowers. This was done untill the outbreak of World War 2.Thus halting production of Maytag engines. After the war ended thousands of Maytag Mottors where produced for use on Monitor Mawn mowers. The monitor was available in three and four wheel versons. I've seen complete and running mowers bring in excess of $450.00 There are still some around in the east coast area. Value is always set by demand. So use your best judgment as to a fair price
