Default Need help with trailer ramps.

My 10 horse Stover on a cart with 24 inch steel wheels is doing a number on my trailer ramps. It was getting a bumpy ride with the ladder style ramp and heavy expanded metal welded on top gave up quick.Every time it rolls over a brace it flops down hard in the next space and is bending the ramps. What would you guys think about Welding 2X2 14 gauge square tubing side by side? 6 of them would make a foot wide ramp that at 4 ft. long would weigh about 52 pounds. Any ideas would be a big help. Thanks in advance.

Dan

Dan don't know the configuration of your trailer, but on my trailer it had a vertical slot that a two by twelve would slide in for a tail gate. I cut two pieces of five inch channel iron the length of the end gate, adapted a flange on the end of each to catch on the trailer, and now have ramps that double as the tail gate. Works well on even the largest engines. Dan
