I just picked up a Aluminium Briggs and Stratton engine I have heard that they are valuable but have no idea how valuable it has a brass oil drain. So if anyone knows what year these engines are from and how much they are worth please tell me. Thanks for everyone time, Drake

Hopefully your engine has some sort of ID tag on it. Post all the information so we know what model you have. Type number tells what options it has and Serial number / Code number can help date it.
Pictures are always good, too.

The Briggs 10000 series/4 hp engine to me do not seem as numerous as the 13000/5 HP which look very much like the 10000 series. The heads will interchange. At one time, Go-Kart racers wanted the head from a 10000 series to install on a 13000 because it would increase the compression of the engine but the Tech. Inspectors learn how to tell the 4 HP head from the 5 hp head. I have a 10000 head on a 13000 series engine I have converted to LP fuel. I would not say they are valuable. The engine will NOT send your kid to college.
