spartai have a engine with no tag,the hopper has the lip turned down,my economy has lip up,it is biger...this thread has 3 replies and has been viewed 475 times

i have a engine with no tag,the hopper has the lip turned down,my economy has lip up,it is biger than 5hp,it has a spark plug where the mag would be,should it have a mag?it has primer cup to the right of plug in cyl,where would the tag be and how can i find what hp it is? thanks in advance randall

If the lip is turned down on your water hopper it sounds like a model D.They were made in the first half of 1914.The hp and s/n is often on the end of the crankshaft on the igniter side.They were the first engines made at the Evansville.Good luck.Dave

This is a early "E" model with a "D" style rolled hopper. The engine you have could be a "D". I do not believe they had a tag. The number is on the end of crank shaft. It should have an igniter like the one on this engine.

thanks david and allen,this is engine is in excelnt shape looking forward to getting it going,the man that owned it passed away,he had painted it black with the flywheel trimed in red,what is the rite color?thanks randall
