Got an email from "Ebay.com" today under subject heading "Security Check" complete with the ebay four color logo. Please Sign In... " For security reasons please re-enter your user ID and password." Then there was the rectangular boxes for eBay User ID and eBay Password plus a rectangle with the word Submit. I assumed it was another scam even though it looks pretty legit, so deleted it without replying. Was wondering if anyone else received a similar email?

Bill, Glad you posted. I recieved twice, nearly the same as you described. So did another fella I know in Southern Illinois. I wrote to ebay about it & they acknowledged that the scam is a scam. They said they would "check into it". You did the right thing by deleting since ebay said they would NEVER ask for personal information under any circumstances. If anyone else gets the same as Bill got or similar, just delete it and move on. My one cents. Bill, an email is forthcoming about the AC4S.

I got this message too but instead of following the handy dandy link THEY gave me I went directly to eBay and attempted to log in. Guess what? Couldn't do it!! I had to create a new password in order to access my personal info. While I have some doubt as to whether the email I got WAS a spoof it's odd that my password had REALLY been removed by eBay. I have a hunch eBay did that because of some rotten hackers' dirty work and just beat them at their own game. DON'T REPLY TO ANYTHING without going to the LEGITIMATE site first. Craig

I have gotten them in the past, but not lately. Since it seems to be starting again I'm sure one will pop up. I usually get something similar that about a Paypal account that I don't have .

Guys, Here's another twist to the Ebay scam...I have a friend who bid on a motorcycle and was outbid at the last minute. The next day he received a convincing looking email from "Ebay" stating that the previous bidder had backed out and would he like to buy at his last bid? This was NOT the "second chance bid" format used by Ebay. I advised him not to respond....it smelled funny. He brought up the original auction page and emailed the seller, who indeed did NOT offer the bike to him. It was a pretty crude attempt at fraud and Ebay has been notified.
