Okay, not exactly engine related...well...sure it is I guess I was looking for engine stuff. Anyways, just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this. This only happens on the EBAY site for me. Whenever I try to scroll down the webpage my scrolling becomes real jerky...and real slow...if you know what I mean. it's like really kind of annoying! Anybody else have this happen? I've cleaned my mouse out...just afew hairballs is all. But, like I said it only happens on EBAY. Anybody have any ideas or fixes? Just to let you know Harry...your site isn't jerky!

that problem tends to happen when the ISP is very busy.

You might try some WD40 on your monitor. My e-bay seems to work just fine.

Gentleman, do yourselves a favor and by an optical mouse with a scoll wheel No more balls or wheels to clean and you won't notice the jerky movement when scrolling with the scolling wheel. I'll never go back to ball mouse .

Maybe the page hasnt fully loaded before you start scrolling down. Ebay loads pretty slow unless your on a high speed connection I find. John.

Hey thanks guy's.... I think I'll start with the WD 40 first Then I'll have a ball with a mouse...or ball the ...ahhhh....better not go there. Yeah, maybe it is something simple like ISP being bogged down. Started about a week ago...I'm sure it's nothing serious but just wanted to know if maybe it was something on their end...Thanks...gotta go oil that monitor definitely don't want it squeaking!

Guys,
you might want to try either selecting or deslecting "smooth scrolling" in the tools tab under internet options then click the advanced tab and scrol down and see the check box USE SMOOTH SCROLLING this sometimes helps. Depending on the application some like it on others like it off. Hope this helps |

One thing I have found is that Ebay does not have the best code writers (program writers).
Personally, I do not accept cookies on my computer as a general rule (unless I am listing items on Ebay), and I; as well as others I am sure; have taken the writers to task for doing stupid things to the point that you cannot directly email to tech support. I never have any problems with scrolling, time issues, or any slow page loading under normal circumstances. But have found pages slow to load with the browser I use to do uploads. So, you might want to switch off "cookies", or set the preferences to "prompt" for cookies. Both Internet Explorer, and Netscape have these settings available in the preferences section. If you use AOL, MSN, or Earthlink, just minimize those, and launch the alternate browser, Netscape 4.77 is best for this. You will get prompted to make it "Default Browser"- always choose "yes", BUT MAKE SURE NOT TO check the box that says in effect "never notify me int he future"- This will default you to that browser all of the time, and your bookmarks will not work in your regular browser. |

I'll just shrink the explanation this time to: Either diable cookies, which is in preferences, and you will not have to see a screen each time you get hit with a cookie,
OR Set "Cookie Properties" to "Prompt". (you get to see how heavily burdened your computer gets with trash) With Ebay, this speeds loading of the pages, and you will not have to worry about having an auction end before the "clock time" is reached. With cookies switched off, there are some sites that do not load, like Sears, or Radio Shack (small loss with that one), because they want to identify your computer (sort of like the numbers you get at a real auction) and track what pages you visit. Cookies are very Orwellian, and on Ebay, those ads that you see in the banners- Those are "tailored" to your customer profile. |
