Kings Books was one of the many vendors at the Plain City show. They had several brand new editions still rapped and I think the price tag on them was $48.50 Sure beats the prices ebay fetches for USED editions !

Marty, Where is this Kings Books located, or how do we get in touch with them. I'm kind of new and this show location doesn't ring a bell. Makes sense that a new one is worth more to me than an old one. U J

Copied from the archives.......

American Gasoline Engines Since 1872

Posted By: Ted Brookover Date: Monday, 21 October 2002, at 6:34 p.m.

In Response To: Wendel's yellow book (Rob Rall)

Also known as the BYB, BRB, and the paperback .

Authored by C. H. Wendel from his own collection of information and information that he collected through ads in GEM in the late seventies and early eighties.

The first version was a limited run of Leather Bound signed copies and the original Yellow cover now known as the BYB or Big Yellow Book, also referred to as the "Bible"

The second printing was bound in a Red Cover, BRB, and is said to not have the same picture quality as the original due to the fact that the original "Paste Ups" were no longer available, so they had to photo copy one of the BYB's.

The last is the paper back and while it has the same content, it suffers from the obvious lack of a durable cover.

The BYB's are considered collectable and fetch 4 or 5 times their original value.

Hope this helps explain the rarity of the BYB......... Jim

And if there was ever a book that deserves an updated, revised 2nd edition, this is it.

Default Wendel's Book

Bill,

I agree with you 100%. But I think I read some place Wendel was not going to do update it which is sad.

I guess this would be the most common question he gets?

What I think would be nice is to get Wendel to become a regular poster on the stak. I believe he is a close friend of Harrys maybe he could ask him if he might be interested.

However I do recall reading in GEM years ago that he didnt really like computers maybe this presents a problem.

Regards,

Adam

To All, After reading about Wendel's book I've decided to sell my BYB. Several years ago I met C.H. at I believe it was Portland. His business card is on the front page. The book is in very good condition with many added pictures of engines not shown.I will be posting a for sale in the Barn sale or big engine section some time after the Brooks show next weekend. Don
