Use platinum so it won't corrode. Actually Lee Pederson has them already made cheap. I've used a couple of sets and they worked fine.

Use low carbon steel. A large common nail or rebar works good for me. Made lots of them. Most points are just light pressed in and peened over on the back side. To remove, just grind off the peened area and punch out the old points and install your newly turned points and peen them over like the originals. Some ignitors have a tapered shaft I have found and this takes a little more machine work but is easily done.

While working on a Miami ignitor i discovered the points were tapered
so i checked to see if a taper pin would fit.It fit perfectly and the pins
made a great set of points after grinding them to length. With a set of
taper pin reamers and an assortment of pins one could easily renew the
points in most ignitors. They could then be easily changed in the future
as they fit nicely with no peening necessary.

I had to replace points during a show, used a piece of allen wrench.
