Default Hello from mid michigan

I have been on the Onan generator section for a little bit already, I thought I better say hi here. This is a great web site, and very informative, I'm glad I found this forum! I have a couple of Onan gensets and I feel the need to get more , I think they call it the "Green Disease" or something. I like all older mechanical and electrical things. Seems like my favorite things are from the 70s or older, when things were built heavy duty. My old John Deere 732 snow blower helps me thru the winter, and my Simplicity 738 lawnmower thru the summer. The Simplicity cuts sooo much nicer than my newer lawn tractor. Older stereo receivers and speakers from the 60-70s are another hobby of mine. I also dabble with alternative energy stuff. My small 260w solar array is grid tied and I'm getting ready to put my (2nd version)500w DIY wind generator up. I'd like to get my hands on an Arrow oil field engine or some other slow speed engine someday.

I build prototype electrical machines for a living at a small R&D facility. We've been doing lots of generators and controls for wind and hybrid car technology lately.

Welcome to the stak. Your work and hobbies sound interesting. I am acumulating the stuff to put solar power at my cabin which is off grid. I will get it done some day. Bill K

Thanks, Bill
I would love to have an off grid cabin to get away from everything.
