Len is correct. Don't let the wires pass over the case. After that you can run them together, there's no issue. You run your hot wire through the ammeter, in and out, it's a series connection. 250-340-NGNG, 250 stands for the style of meter, 3 is a 3-1/2" meter,40 is AC 60 HZ, NGNG is 20 amp rating/0-20 scale.
