Ahh I see, NHE spec E , let me look at schematic. It will say what (CR6 J1-10) goes to

Service manual number for your NHE spec E and link to it:
BGE spec f-k---NHE-spec e-k--EMERALD PLUS--SERVICE--(9-94)--- 965-0528.pdf
http://www.twinslan.net/~n0nas/manuals/onan/

From pfd page 151 of this manual, looks like J1-10 when grounded stopped engine (equal to pressing stop button). J1-10 goes to a diode, then to NC contacts of relay K5.

Looks like it was a safty that was included on vapor fueled gens to stop engine (and shut off gas solinoid) if power to spark coil was lost ( see relay K5 on schematic)

Thanks Len k, i also have one more question. I want to fuse B1 And B2 wires going to stator, does anyone know what full load current would be in this circuit as to know what size fuse i need to get? This would be for 6.5 NHE spec E. I dont want the same thing to happen to this genset as did my BGE. Possible 3 to 5 amp?

5 sounds in the ball park. I don't know what B winding amps are.
They are used to power spark coil, pump, relays, and what's left over charges bat.

Best test to size fuse is just put a low bat in gen, run gen, and measure amps. Then round up to next standard amp size fuse. Could jump to 2nd higher size if want. Since if diode bridge shorts you'll see a HUGE increase in amps, since B windings are only .058 ohms. Also run this test with gen making full rated kw out 120 leads, since this will increase B -winding voltage, and thus current.

When measuring amps ideally should use a RMS amp meter. Charging current will be taken only off tops of voltage sine wave, so a cheap averaging meter will not read the same. Might be close enough though , I just don't know how large the error will be

Reason to measure RMS is .........Fuse's melt rating is in RMS amps. (which by definition is the DC current going thru a resistor that will dissipate same watts in it as ANY chopped up current waveform will). Fuse is basically a resistor that heats up and melts.

If you do fuse the B windings could you tell us what you measure for voltage across them. Both disconnected and hooked up charging. please. Also current
