How many remember the Rambler Scrambler.Made by American motors, the company everyone laughed at. Where I went to school the big three drivers learned to stay away from it. They laughed at it until it smoked the tires and beat them down the quarter mile. The one in our school at been tuned up a little. Put out a little over 415 HP.

Since back in the day when Chrysler bought AMC, when I go to MOPAR shows there a quite a few AMC's at them, once in a while one will show up, then there was the AMX or the 1970 Rebel Machine

It's a little tricky, but I can get the single 4BBL tuned OK on the JC. Gotta use the dual snorkel cleaner for proper air turbulence.

Another laughed at company was StudeBaker. A guy that worked for them showed us at the club. The new Avanti they had plans for. 429 hemi with two Paxton blowers. Five speed transmission. Top speed from the factory was to be 210 mph. Would have been the hottest muscle car on the market at the time. Too bad they went under.

I tried to buy a new Scrambler from the AMC dealer. When the Olds dealer tried to sell me a 4 door, baby sh%t green (you know....the color of a jar of Gerber baby food strained peas) Cutlass instead of the W31 Ram Rod 350 that I wanted.....twice no less, I headed for the AMC dealer. With car magazine in hand showing the Scrambler, I was greeted by four "old" men playing checkers (they were probably only about 30-35 years old....but to a 19 year old....well, you know). I was told that "we don't sell race cars here, if you want a race car, go across the street."

So, across the street I went, to the Dodge dealer who was more than happy to show me a 340 GTS Dart . And as they say....the rest is history. Chevy and Ford free and Mopar only since 1968. Still have that car.

Well, I can agree that the 5.9 Cummins certainly put Dodge back in the running. The first and second generation cabs weren't the best. I own a third generation 2007, 5.9, 6 speed stick, 4x4 and it is a damn good truck.
I always said that the top winner would be a Ford cab and chassis with the 5.9 Cummins.

And an Allison 1000/2000 series or 6 speed Eaton transmission.
