Default Onan Powered EZ Go Truck... Free Irma Victim

What did I get myself into??? The rear end is locked up so it don't roll.. yet.. I was told it ran rough before getting 2 feet of water in it..

I Think it will make a nice advertising sign when or if I open a shop.. as it sits I have way to many projects.. but you never know

Joe, You could put "Sanford and Son" "Salvager and Junkologist" on the side.

I had an old Postal, Westcoaster that I drove in the beach areas when I was just out of High school. It had the CCK in it and I tortured that thing. The kid I bought it from chopped the back cargo top off of it. Another friend and I would get in that thing and he would side hack in the back and we would see how fast we could go around the corners.

Hello Stakers,I have had two of these things. One was a GT1500,the other is a GT-7.Parts are hard to find as EZ-GO never heard of them. The one I kept has a P220 Onan motor in it.
I found manuals for them on Evilbay. If I can be of some help contact me.
Have fun with it,Mark

Probably just the brakes rusted to the drums.
Swap engines and a good cleaning and that will make a handy tool around the shop.

That little rig will be perfect for hauling away all the frozen iguanas I've been reading about. You could start a frozen iguana hauling service. Nice find.

Spot on.. had to take a 5 pound hammer to them.. one side required my big puller to get it to come off with the help of the 5 pounder.. left the drums off and pushed it off the trailer.. had a bunch of weird aloe looking plants pulled out for my new fence and ran out of trash can space so I told them to fill the back of that up.. already coming in handy..

Have it hooked up to my trailer mounted lister ld2 generator just because..

You do realize that you must repower that with some type of Onan diesel engine, don't you?

If I had to guess... it would be easier to make it a time machine . I have a friend in ca that has a brand new p220 I'm going to try to buy from him for it

Well, alright- but you know you will always think about a DJC diesel with split manifolds on it.

That little thing would probably be quite a rocket with 20hp powering it!

I saw an EZ-Go Golf Cart recently in a salvage yard. So, used ones & parts are still around.

Pulled the engine and trans out today.. surprisingly only a few troublesome nuts and bolts considering it was under salt water and never washed off..

The inside of the trans was full of water.. but very little rust on a few gears.. that I scraped off and cleaned with starting fluid then pooper oil in it.

Going to pull the trans off the engine tomorrow and see what size shaft it has and hopefully the new engine my friend has will work with it.. I managed to find break parts and a new clutch ( if it needs one) that would cost me about 600 for everything.. plus 500 for the new 20 hp engine.. but id look around more before buying them at that cost..

I'd suggest checking the differential and flush all the brake lines out. Those three wheelers are fun to run around town in. Is that rig licensed?

Soo.. if you guys had got this.. and was told it was under 2 feet of salt water for a day.. and never has the oil drained would you think it was toast?

I was removing the trans. And trying to get the clutch bolts off the flywheel and to my utter shock and disbelief the dang engine turned over..

After scratching my head for a min.. I drained the oil.. got at least a 2 liter full of salt water before any oil.. removed the heads and got some salt water out of it.. with a bit of oil.. looks like someone dumped oil in the cylinders, not much but A little.. one of the bores is questionable but the other seems ok.. this engine may be a runner again..

No stuck valves even tho one of the exhaust ports was full of sand and crud..

I'm just shocked..

Wow! I'm surprised it is in that good condition. Even the "bad" cylinder looks like it will clean up, at least from the pictures. You may be in luck as far as the engine and tranny go. On the other hand, you are going to need a sand blaster, a LOT of sand, and a lot of time to clean the corrosion and rust from all the outside metal.
