Default Onan 15.0 RDJC Fuel Pump Leak

Hello guys, I have the above gen set and it runs like a top. However, a few days ago I cranked it and runs flawlessly but I noticed a steady drip of diesel coming from the fuel pump. It does appear to be coming from the top of it. Time for a new gasket or fuel pump ? Any help is truly appreciated.

If it is the OEM fuel pump, the diaphragm may have ruptured causing the leak.

Keep an eye on the oil level, it is possible for a ruptured diaphragm to allow fuel to leak into the crank case.

Could also be a loose screw that holds the two parts together. But as Max said could be a bad diaphragm.

I have been dealing with a "loose screw" most of my life, not sure there is a way to fix it.

I lost my screw a long time a go LOL anyhow my son in laws 12.0 DJC fuel pump was leaking oil at the pin on it so i went and replaced the vintage fuel pump with a modern day electric fuel pump and that took care of the issue like Billy said if that diaphragm leaks you may get fuel in your oil. I took the ole fuel pump off and made a plate and a gasket to seal the fuel pump hole in block and just hooked up the electric fuel pump and works just fine.
Fuel pump i used was an Airtex external electric fuel pump from Summit Racing ATX-E8153 Max psi 14 free flow rate 35GPH you would want to check the specs on your 15.0 rdjc to see if this would be suffient for your onan .

"They" were by the bushel load at UPS.
RRT74, google "Vintage car fuel pump rebuilders" or something to that fact and you will find places that rebuild old fuel pumps. Being that Onan was owned by Studebaker and that the "R" models used a Studebaker water pump, did they use any Studebaker parts in the fuel pumps?

Onan dan, thanks for the help. But I do have a couple of questions for you, if you don’t mind. Where would I find information on what facet or similar pump would work for my unit. It’s a 15 rdjc generator. Also, where would it be hooked into, I am assuming in the control panel but this is all Greek to me.

Howdy first you need to post the model and serial numbers from the id tag on the onan that way the smart guys will know what service manuals and so on you will refer to they will tell a person what the psi pressure is needed for your RDJC i put an electric fuel pump on my son in laws 12.DJC and it was rated like 14psi far as wiring it up is the easy part that will come later so post those numbers and some will will send you the material via email and help walk you through the process.
