Arrow 1913 IHC 15hp Tractor in New Zealand

Here's the third of the four two speed gear drive IHC tractors......this one is on the south island of New Zealand. One of the owners has been here (as in literally at my shop) twice and was most helpful when we were working on a pair a few years ago.
Their family 15 was in pieces for years waiting for the "bug" to bite again.....and it did.......

So they now ask: Any ideas on how "chaff guards" should be held in place. There are holes punched (with a nail) halfway along top edge of side panels, but nothing on top piece. The top appears to sit too low, covers first row of "tags", and water can pour out, whereas if the side panels were outside the top piece, more water would be contained ??

And to sweeten the pot here's a video of the newly restored tractor.

(After having actually WATCHED the video I'm P R E T T Y sure what the trouble is....... ) It's running just a tetch fast.......

Just a bit fast? They're spinning the crap out of it! During a LARGE portion of the video it's running at about double its rated RPM!

Edit:

Nice restoration though. I like it.

Yeah Chris.......there are two hit & miss tractors and two throttlers.
The other throttler stands in my shed and one hit & miss version is at Baraboo.
I think I have videos of both here.
The fourth one was sold at the Oscar's Dreamland sale and I don't know where that went.

You could tell me about anything about the tractor and I'd believe you as far as the way as it is running....but did notice when they drove it seemed to me like it was trucking right along!

I must say, if I could wave a magic wand and just be given any gas tractor in the world I wanted, it would be one of the old screen cooled IH's. They're cool!

Mike

Craig, the tractor that was at Oscars Dreamland went to the guy in Idaho. As far as I know it is still at Oscars.

When the guy is walking beside it, at about 5:30, I got it right at 360rpm.

Congrats Mike, The TRACTOR looks GREAT !!!!!! Nice to have the old girl running again ( especially in time for your show.) Can't wait to see the canopy on it.
