Default Another Onan JC followed me home!

Hi guys!

I recently finished installing a 12.5JC as my home backup - thread is at: http://www.smokstak.com/forum/showthread.php?t=134944

I told myself, after the JC and 2 CCK's this year I would take a break, but I didn't listen to myself (or the wife) very well.

Today I picked up a 15 JC:

15.0JC-3R/15479AA
1274910114

It's on a 10,000 LB two axle trailer, and is a former Verizon unit, meant to shuttle between phone switches during an outage.

What's amazing is that it had a 100 gallon LP tank mounted on the front of the trailer. Yes, it's an LP unit.

So, I towed it home this morning, and did a quick look for nests inside regulator and control and fan shrouds. Previous owner said he bought it from Verizon a few years ago, but never could get it running.

I hooked a 30 lb tank with my high flow regulator to it (demand regulator and solenoid mounted on unit), temporarily connected a battery, and a few seconds later it ran! Like a top. 240 V, 62.5 HZ. No strange noises. No smoke. I consider that a pretty good first day.

Oh. I paid $550 for it. Including the trailer. Don't think I can go wrong with this one.

So, no questions for tonight - unless you can find a build sheet for it. Thanks!

I'll probably go through it and do what I normally do: full tune up, convert to Pertronix, adjust valves, clean PCV valves, gaskets, plus, wires, cap, rotor, etc.

Here's a video of it with a walk around and it running: http://youtu.be/4D_JuOmaGVQ

And here are some pictures.

The voltage regulator looks good. It is a 300-1540, but not the original one. Newer boards used different components and have a bar code, which this one does. So it was replaced at some point.

Nice score especially with the trailer, nothing like a mobile onan.
