Angry Worthington Air Compressor

I need starting info on this 1967 Worthington 160 blue brute mono rotor towable air compressor there is a metal tag with directions about closing a valve to disengage its clutch system and to pump until you feel backpressure
And to always leave valve open when compressor is running.
First of all I can not find anything to pump up what ever there talking about.
secondly without doing anything when trying to start, The engine will not crank over and im thinking that the clutch system is not released and keeping engine from turning over anybody here have any experience with this compressor?
