Default Witte Diesel

Hey to all. I have a friend that found a Witte Diesel engine but does not know what it is. Serial #D13533, 5" bore with 8" stroke, 720 RPM. No pictures yet. Any Ideas? Thanks, Jeff

Thumbs up Re: witte diesel

Probably a CD model - 6 HP. Look up D Johnson here on the Stak. he can date your engine for you, and can provide you with a CD that has an owners manual. He has been very helpful with Witte information. Not much available as far as parts go, but Dave has some items. Parts that you can find are not cheap.

From the serial number you give it would have been built in 1946. If the valve train is exposed it is a MD 12 hp, if valve train is enclosed it is a CD 12hp.

Hey Ed. Not much info for you. If i remember the guy was moving, if i had to guess i think the guy you bought it from had bought a trailer from the guy and the engine was on it.

I didn't get much history from the fellow I bought it from. It had been setting a long time. I took it apart yesterday and found someone was rebuilding it. New rod bearing and rings, but never run. The rest of the engine is in good shape. Shouldn't take too much to make it live again.
Thanks Ed
