Default European pre-1930 tractor register

After encouragement from Marcel and Joerg on another thread, I have added a page to my website for a register of pre-1930 steel-wheeled tractors in Europe:

http://www.steel-wheels.net/register.html

Feel free to send me details of your own tractor(s) for inclusion in the list, or other people's tractors if you have their consent. I have so far only listed the owner's name if this information is already publicly available on the web or in a book for example (or if they have told me it is ok to do so!)

I had been thinking about setting up something like this for a while now, as there seems to have been quite a bit of interest in the UK and European Traction Engine Registers, as well as James Hefner's "Surviving World Steam" project, but nothing like this existed for old tractors. If any collectors from the US and Canada, or maybe Australia/NZ, are interested in widening the scope of this register then let me know too. I suppose the whole thing will only really be useful if people don't mind having their names listed on the web, but I know from experience that some people are wary of letting other people know what they have.

Any comments or suggestions would be welcome.

David

Good job, David, and fast too!

Let's hope many will contribute and make it into a real database!

Thank you, best regards
Marcel

David: Very well done. I checked earlier and there was only a hand full of entries, but now it seems the ball is rolling.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys!

Marcel, maybe you could send me the serial no. of your Rumely E, Titan and any other early tractors in your collection? I would also appreciate it if you could mention the register to any other collectors in Belgium or the Netherlands and see if they are interested in contributing too.

Robert, I don't suppose you have serial no.'s for the two Sawyer-Masseys in France? (Apologies if I already asked you this.) Still no more news on the 11-22 in Italy/Spain I'm afraid.

All the best

David

David: No I don't, but I may be able to do some digging. I can provide with some luck the owners name of the 11-22. Malcolm may know who it is, as I believe he was a M-H dealer at one time.

Hi Robert

I found the name of the French owner of the 11-22 in a book today (Jacques Monneral), so I think it would be ok to add it to the register. I seem to remember the S-M 20-40 in Chartres came over from Canada (Ontario?) fairly recently, so perhaps someone in Canada would have the serial no. of that one. If not, it will have to wait until I go down there myself and take a look!

All the best

David

Hello David and Robert,

Well it looks like the register is moving on VERY fast, since I last visited this thread, well done David. I will send you some more of my Wallis / M-H numbers shortly.
Sorry I do not have the details of the French S-M 20-40, hope you soon get some pictures David.
I was intrigued to see the thread with the restored S-M photo recently pictured in the mid west, again not one I had seen or heard of in the Nebraska area when I visited those museums a few years ago. Come on Robert get your "hunting gear on and go find", we shall wait to hear from you Sir!!

Best Wishes,

Malcolm.

Hello Malcolm

I would certainly appreciate any more numbers that you may have to add to the listing. It would be great if you could mention the register to any fellow collectors that you speak to as well, in case they are interested in contributing (anonymously if they prefer).

I expect I will run out of steam fairly soon though as I don't have many more serial numbers noted down myself. I had the thought that perhaps people could check any old sale catalogues from the dispersal of major collections as these often list the serial no.'s - we should hopefully then be able to trace the present whereabouts of the tractors to complete the record.

All the best

David
