Default IR 3-R-36 Spot Air Compressor / Engine

A friend of mine has a complete IR 3-R-36 Compressor, that he bought many years ago. He has run it but not in a while. He is looking to sell it. I know these are quite unique and somewhat rare, what are they worth ? I am interested in the unit, but have never seen what they bring or have ever seen one for sale. I have found a couple posts here on the Stak regarding them. I know that parts are not available and not much info is either. He is suppose to get me some pictures of this and Stover engine powered cement mixer, he also has.
Thanks !

~ Jonathan

I have one that I got on E-Bay for $700. I would take twice that for it.
It runs great and makes a ton of air. I use it to start my engines.

Exclamation Re: IR 3-R-36 Spot Air Compressor / Engine

I paid $125 for my 3R-35, at the Hudson Valley Auction, 2 years ago. The guys must have been sleeping on this one. I had to claen the points, gas tank and carb, and change the oil (racing SAE-20). It runs great! I use a jack hammer that came with it, 2 air motors I salvaged from the old Jersey City Medical Center Boiler Room, and also run an air drive chainsaw. 36 CFM@ 125 PSI, steady out put. It will blow off the safety valve at 135 PSI.

It is a unique machine, and has a unique sound when running. Most have a directed flattenned exhaust. Mine were rusted out, so I tapped the exhaust stack ells for 3/4" pipe, and installed B&S 5 HP mufflers in the ells, on each cylinder.
