Default type cdo 21647 onan generator

I have a type cdo 21647 onan generator and I know very little about it other than it was used to power navy communications radios (tbw-5) The tags read: TYPE CDO-18010-A SERIAL # 182428 4 H.P./4 CYCLE/2 CYLINDER/ 2,666 R.P.M. MANUFACTURED FOR: NAVY DEPARTMENT-BUREAU OF SHIPS/ BY D.W. ONAN AND SONS CONTRACTOR: WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC AND MANUFACTURING CO. TYPE CDO-73004-B SERIAL# 880 GASOLINE ENGINE GENERATOR SET 190 POUNDS A UNIT OF MODEL TBW-5 RADIO EQUIPMENT

I looked at an older post on here and it didn't tell me any more than what I just related here. Does anyone know of a manual that tells how to run it? What type of oil does it use? Do I have to have a battery hooked up to it to run it? If so where do I hook it up? Any help would be appreciated.

I KNOW NOTHING of your unit but from the rated RPM I would say it is a DC unit as 2666 RPM does not work out to either a 60 HZ or 400HZ machine UNLESS the generator is BELT driven by the engine.

Here is a page with a few specs. Looks like it produces DC and 800hz AC.

Thank you. That is the most information that I have seen on the piece. Thank You. I don't know why I didn't come across that in my research..

It does not appear to be belt driven. How do you translate the frequency (hz) to RPM? (Aside from the tag) is there a conversion that you use? I was told that it is 800 hz and on a tag it says 120/800 so that makes sense.

Reading the referenced document it clearly states that it is a directly driven 4 pole alternator, turning at 2,666 RPM, with an output of 800 Watts at voltages of 120, 1, and 800 volts which would be AC and a DC output of 280 Watts a 14 volts. The AC output frequency based on this data is 88.86 Hz, which is computed by the following formula:
Frequency = (RPM)(#of poles)/120
F = (2666)(4)/120 = 88.86 Hz

Based on the motor specs on the same page, 115/230 /1/25 and 115/230 /1/60, for 25 and 60hz motors, I believe that the 120/1/800 term equates to 120v/1ph/800hz.

With any luck, the OP will get it running and tell us what the frequency is.

It looks a lot like the Onan OTC 16b, 33 or my 48e, but a later model. Mine is 1944 and your carb is different. I posted reciently a pdf on my ignition replacement and a link to the manual for the OTC 16b. I have mine running , but it is a 6 Volt battery charger. I am to receive the manual for mine tomorrow. Look under Onan too.
