Default Need drawings or tech data on a Deming Pump

Picked up an old Deming Model 1890 pump.
Before I take it apart, I would like to see whats inside.
It is frozen and won't turn over.
It seems like the piston.
Thanks in advance for any information.

John

Lindy,
Thanks for the response, i have been out of town and haven't had a chance to get to my e-mail.
I probably won't be able to tear into the pump until after the holidays. (Have a few honey do's to tend to.)
I will probably have to bother you with a question or two then. If you don't mind.
I filled the water side of the pump with oil and capped it. It had a fair amount of rust inside and felt it might penetrate or work something loose.
Thats a fine looking setup in the photo you sent.

Thanks again for the reply.
Have a great holiday season.
John

ive got two and there a basic piston pump. theres nothing that you will run into thats very complicated, the biggest problem i had is getting the machined surfaces back flat. you can make or order most of the parts youll need. its probabaly just full of rust and in need of a cleaning out.

Lindy, I am working on a 1890 marvel, and am missing the nut assy to hold the tank bell on.Can you send me a close up photo of yours , so I will know what I need to look for? Also during disassembly I broke one of the valve screw bolts, any Idea where I can find any parts for this pump? Thanks for any help....Bill

Hi,
I am new to the forum but have an extensive library of Deming catalogs and maintenance manuals. If you are still interested, I also know of an old well/pump guy near Akron OH that has parts for this style pump.

Let me know and I will scan and upload pages from the manuals if desired.

Deming Pump Guy - I just came across your post.
I have an old Deming 1890 pump in my basement with an electric Frigidaire 3140 motor attached to it.

They both need servicing before I can run them.

Do you have manuals/documentation on the Deming pump that you could send me? I haven't been able to track anything down on my own.

Question Re: Need drawings or tech data on a Deming Pump

I have one of these in my basement that seems to be in pretty good shape.

It has a relatively modern 1/3 HP Dayton Electric 5k444 motor attached.

Probably has not been run in 15-20 years, but the flywheel moves freely. Nothing seems to be frozen up.

Any words of wisdom (or experience) before I try to start it up?

Anything I need to lubricate, prime, or inspect?

Hello, john, could you tell me the proper size leather cups for the marvel 1890, including the center hole size. Thanks, i really like this early types of machinery. I have just got my hands on this pump and want it to return to its original glory!
