Question 1 3/4 hp MacLeod Engine Timing

Hello i have a 1 3/4 hp MacLeod engine and it is out of time.
It fires way to far past TDC. It has Wico mag on it and i do not know how to change the timing. I have adjusted the nuts that are supposed to change the timing. What ever i do i cant get it to move to the right position.

Any ideas on how I'am supposed to do it would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

Are the timing gears off a tooth or two? If the gears are out of time, you'll never be able to get the timing right with the fine adjustments.
