Default Maytag washer. Ringer problems

I bought a wringer washer the wringer is not working. The shaft on the side of the tub is turning but not the wringer itself. Has anyone encounterd this problem before. All help would be greatly welcomed.

Default Re: Maytag washer. Ringer problems

I had the same problem yesterday. Mine has a hex socket that the hex shaft on the wringer fits into. The flats on the hexes were wore down and it wouldn't turn. I just drilled and tapped the collar to fit a 1/4-28 set screw, then put the roller back in and tightened the set screw down on the hex shaft.

I found that the wringer shaft is hard as can be, it will tear up drill bits quite easily.

Hope this helps.
