Default Bamford EG1 Timing

Hi all,Iím after a bit of info on how to time a Bamford Eg1,it has a wico a series mag on it with avanced spark,I know thereís timing marks on flywheel a and r and I know where tdc is,now do I have to remove the mag and set flywheel to the correct timing mark which I believe is r and adjust mag so points just open on the cam and then replace mag back on engine I think thereís a link on the chain to put the chain back on without disturbing the timing marks how this makes sense to somebody ?
